Integrating Drone Technology into Military Medicine: A Collaboration Between KACH and USMA

KELLER ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL, N.Y. — KACH is actively working, with the USMA Robotics Research Center, within the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences Department, to integrate drone technology into military medical operations to enhance soldier health and safety.

From Leftovers to Lifelines: Keller joins Food Donation Program

Keller Army Community Hospital is stepping up to address food insecurity in the Greater Hudson Valley with the launch of a comprehensive food donation program. By forging a vital partnership with the Regional Food Bank of New York and its own Nutrition Care Division, Keller aims to repurpose prepared and wholesome foods, ensuring they reach individuals and families in need rather than ending up in landfills.

Maj. Patrick Mescher, M.D., and Maj. Connor Venrick, M.D., both recent graduates of the John A. Feagin, Jr. Sports Medicine Fellowship, are two members of Keller’s Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Research team that contributed to the six abstracts that were accepted for presentation at the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOMOS) Annual Meeting.

Keller has six projects accepted for presentation at SOMOS meeting

KELLER ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL, N.Y. — The Keller Army Community Hospital Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Research team received notification that six abstracts were accepted for presentation at the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons (SOMOS) Annual Meeting in December. SOMOS provides a forum for presentation of research papers in a collegial setting and the interchange of medical knowledge as it relates to the practice of orthopaedic surgery in the military.

Newark (N.J.) Army Recruiting Company recruiters attended nutrition training during their August 29, 2025, Quarterly Training meeting. The training, provided by Lt. Col. Joetta Khan, PhD, MPH, a registered dietitian, focusing on nutrition strategies for healthy recruiters and resources for recruiters to support healthy recruits.

Keller supports Newark Army Recruiting Company

NEWARK RECRUITING COMPANY, N.J. — Lt. Col. Joetta Khan, PhD, MPH, a registered dietitian assigned to Keller Army Community Hospital, provided training to more than 40 active-duty Army recruiters, from the Newark Recruiting Company, focusing on nutrition strategies for healthy recruiters and resources for recruiters to support healthy recruits.

Lt. Col. Jon Umlauf, Associate Professor, George Washington University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, demonstrates the utility of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) as a valuable tool in forward battlefield medicine during the Kersey Advanced Clinical & Operational Practice Course held at West Point on August 4-8, 2025. POCUS provides immediate diagnostic information in austere, resource-limited environments.

Keller hosts advanced neuromusculoskeletal course to improve warfighter care

KELLER ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL, N.Y. — Keller Army Community Hospital hosted the 2025 Col. Douglas A. Kersey Advanced Clinical & Operational Practice Course, which is part of the MEDCoE (US Army Medical Center of Excellence) Post-Professional Short Course Series, on August 4-8, 2025. Participants - including members from the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and the U.S. Public Health Service - received an advanced understanding of evidence-based practices, from the clinic to the battlefield, equipping them to meet the unique demands of military healthcare in today's evolving strategic environment.
