The Ophthalmology Service at Keller Army Community Hospital delivers exceptional care for a wide range of eye conditions, specializing in vision correction and clinic-based procedures. Led by our expert ophthalmologist, we address both common issues like refractive errors and complex conditions such as cataracts and glaucoma. Our team provides advanced nonoperative treatments and vision correction procedures for Active-Duty members only (no dependents or retirees) like LASIK and PRK, tailored to each patient’s needs. Below is a partial list of our capabilities.

Vision Correction (For Active-Duty Members Only):
- PRK (for nearsightedness, mild farsightedness, astigmatism)
- LASIK pre-operative appointments and referrals for those that don’t qualify for PRK (for extreme nearsightedness, farsightedness, high astigmatism)

Cataract Management:
- Comprehensive cataract evaluation and preoperative assessment
- Referral coordination for cataract surgery

Glaucoma Care:
- Medical management (eye drops for intraocular pressure control)
- Peripheral iridotomy (for narrow-angle glaucoma)

Corneal Conditions:
- Treatment of corneal abrasions and infections

Eyelid and Ocular Surface:
- Chalazion excision (for eyelid cysts)
- Treatment of dry eye syndrome (medications, punctal plugs)
- Foreign body removal (for ocular surface irritants)

Non-operative Management:
- Medical management of conjunctivitis, uveitis, and other inflammatory conditions
- Monitoring and referrals for complex retinal or neuro-ophthalmic conditions

* This specialty is also available to Tricare Prime Remote Beneficiaries assigned to a civilian provider. Beneficiaries must contact their civilian PCM and have referrals placed through the Humana Military Portal. PCMs are advised to state Keller Army Community Hospital Orthopedics in the referral to ensure our clinic receives the referral in a timely manner.
