Lt. Col. Thomas Lehmann is the Deputy Commander for Quality & Safety at Keller Army Community Hospital, West Point, N.Y.
LTC Lehmann is a native of Smithtown, N.Y. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at St John’s University in Queens, N.Y., in 2008, prior to direct commissioning into the Medical Service Corps. In 2012, he completed an American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited Post-Graduate Year One Residency in Pharmacy Practice at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and became a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 2013. In 2022, he graduated with a Master of Science in Healthcare Management from Johns Hopkins University and earned Fellowship status with the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2024.
Prior to this assignment, LTC Lehmann served as the Asst. Deputy Commander for Clinical Services and the Chief of the Pharmacy Department, both at the Keller Army Community Hospital, for more than four years. He led the department through the COVID-19 pandemic and the MHS GENESIS implementation.
LTC Lehmann’s first duty station was Chief of Inpatient Pharmacy at Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC), Ft. Bragg, N.C., in 2009. He later became the Chief of Outpatient Pharmacy Operations. While at Ft. Bragg, he deployed to Iraq from July 2010 – July 2011 as the Medical Logistics pharmacist for the 261st Multifunctional Medical Battalion. In 2013, he served as the Chief of Ancillary Services (Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology) at the Andrew Rader U.S. Army Health Clinic, Arlington, Va. In 2016, he served as the Brigade Pharmacist for the 30th Medical Brigade, in Sembach, Germany. In that role, he provided pharmaceutical oversight to subordinate units, was the S-9 in charge of Military-to-Military Medical Engagements and Security Cooperation with NATO Allies and Partners and was the lead medical planner for the multi-national mass casualty training event at Saber Guardian in Romania.
LTC Lehmann’s military awards include Meritorious Service Medal (with 1 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (with 2 OLCs), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (with three OLCs), the Iraq Campaign Medal (2 campaign stars), the Air Assault Badge, the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Nijmegen Four Days Marches Medal, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (in Silver). He is also a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit (O2M3).
