COL Sally P. DelVecchio

COL Sally P. DelVecchio is the 62nd Commander of Keller Army Community Hospital.

COL Sally P DelVecchio was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Red Hook NY. She graduated with a BA in biochemistry with a minor in exercise and sports studies from Smith College. She worked for 2 years in Boston MA as a research assistant at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is married to her husband Michael, has 2 children, Mary (19) and Samuel (17), and a black lab, Millie.

COL DelVecchio joined the Army reserves during medical school in 2003.   graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006 and completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center in 2009. She completed her Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio TX in 2013 where she was also a Primary Care Physician for the Wounded Warrior Battalion. She completed the Army War College in 2025 with a master’s degree in strategic studies.

COL DelVecchio’s first staff duty station was Womack Army Medical Center, Ft. Bragg. In 2013 she deployed to Afghanistan in support of the UK/US Role 3 hospital for 10 months.  Upon return, she was appointed OIC of the Pulmonary Clinic, including the Respiratory Therapy Department.

COL DelVecchio joined the NCR in 2016 when she PCS’ed to Walter Reed Bethesda as key clinical faculty for the Pulmonary Fellowship. She then transferred to Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in 2018, becoming Fellowship Site Director and Chief of the Pulmonary/RT Department. From 2019 to 2020, she deployed with the 14th CSH (TF Med 14) to Iraq as Deputy Commander of Clinical Services at the Role 3 hospital in Baghdad, working with the Department of State Hospital, embassy, and Iraqi Military Medical Command. On return, she became Chief, Department of Medicine at FBCH, leading 13 clinics and implementing tele critical care with the Joint Tele Critical Care Network. COL DelVecchio was ground commander for a 24-member DSCA COVID vaccination mission in New Jersey in 2021. In April 2021 she was named Deputy DMS at Augusta Military Medical Center, assisting in leading 5 departments, and served as the Pulmonary Product Line Chair for the NCR. She has continued to teach, mentor, and practice Pulmonary Critical Care medicine at every opportunity. From 2023-2024, she was Deputy CMO for the NCR Network, supporting Ready Reliable Care initiatives, patient communication, Risk Management, and system standardization. From 2024-2025, she was Director, DiLorenzo Pentagon Health Clinic, optimizing access to care for 25,000 Pentagon employees.

Most recently, COL DelVecchio was the Director, Clinical-Program Support Office at OTSG, overseeing Healthcare Risk Management, Army research, patient records, EFMP/FMTS, pharmacy and lab oversight, Army Blood Program, and soldier performance programs, collaborating with sister services, DHA, and Health Affairs.
