Col. Andrew J. Hover is the Deputy Commander for Nursing & Health Services at Keller Army Community Hospital, West Point, N.Y.
COL Andrew Hover was born at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. He was raised in Ohio and in December 2000, he graduated from The Ohio State University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army through the Reserve Officers Training Corps program.
In 2001, COL Hover began his nursing career in Reynolds Army Community Hospital at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He then attended the Perioperative Nursing Course in 2003 at Brooke Army Medical Center in route to his next assignment at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 2005, COL Hover was assigned as Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Operating Room (OR) and Sterile Processing Division (SPD) at Munson Army Health Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. COL Hover’s next assignment took him to Winn Army Community Hospital at Fort Stewart, Georgia in 2008 where he served as OIC of SPD. COL Hover then attended the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland where he earned a Master of Science in Nursing Degree becoming a Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in 2013. His next assignment took him to Miesau, Germany where he joined the 67th Forward Surgical Team (FST) serving as the OR OIC. In 2016, COL Hover was assigned to work as a Perioperative CNS in the Center for Nursing Science and Clinical Inquiry at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. His last year there, COL Hover served as the Deputy Chief of Evidence Based Practice. COL Hover returned to Germany to serve as the Chief of Perioperative Nursing Services at LRMC from 2020 to 2022 and Deputy Chief Nursing Officer from 2022-2025. COL Hover currently works at Keller Army Community Hospital at West Point.
COL Hover deployed to Iraq three times with the 31st Combat Support Hospital (2004-2005), 28th Combat Support Hospital (2010) and 67th FST (2014-2015).
