COL Brianna M. Perata

COL Brianna M. Perata is the 60th Commander of West Point Health Service Area/Keller Army Community Hospital.

COL Perata commissioned into the United States Army through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. A Distinguished Military Graduate from the University of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2000.
 
COL Perata served her initial assignment as a Medical-Surgical Nurse at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI. Following her tour in the Pacific, COL Perata served at Heidelberg Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC), Heidelberg, Germany, as a Maternal-Child staff nurse.  In 2010, COL Perata graduated with a Master of Science degree from the University of California at San Francisco and earned certification as a Perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist. She is Inpatient Obstetrics- Board Certified (RN-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
 
Upon completing graduate school, COL Perata relocated to Dewitt Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC) where she served as the Maternal-Child and Inpatient Psychiatry Transitional Director during the closure of Dewitt MEDDAC and the opening of Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. Upon the opening of Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, COL Perata served as the Section Chief for the Maternal-Child and Inpatient Psychiatry wards and the Maternal-Child Clinical Nurse Specialist. Selected to the position of Executive Officer for the Women’s Health Task Force and Service Line, COL Perata transitioned to the Office of the Surgeon General (OTSG). She later served as Chief, Strategic Engagements, within the Commander’s Action Group at OTSG. COL Perata then rotated to Evans Army Community Hospital, serving as Section Chief, Maternal-Child Nursing. She served as the Executive Officer to the Commanding General, Regional Health Command- Europe, and Command Surgeon, United States Army Europe, from 2016 to 2018. COL Perata commanded Public Health Activity Rheinland-Pfalz from June 2018 thru June 2020. In June 2021, COL Perata graduated from National War College with a Master of Science in National Security Strategy.  She previously served as the Regional Health Command- Atlantic Regional Nurse Executive.
 
COL Perata’s military professional education includes the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Officer Basic and Advanced Courses; in-residence Command and General Staff College, Redstone Arsenal, AL; AMEDD and Fort Leavenworth Pre-Command Courses, AMEDD Executive Skills Course, Senior Officer Legal Orientation Course, Basic Healthcare Administrator Course, Executive Nurse Leader Course, Department of the Army Action Officer Force Integration Course, and the Obstetric/Gynecologic Nursing Course. COL Perata attended the Defense Health Agency Capstone Course for Military Health System Leaders, Medical Strategic Leadership Program, AMEDD Iron Majors Week, and the Army Nurse Corps’ prestigious CJ Reddy Conference.
 
COL Perata’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters; Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters; Army Achievement Medal; Army Superior Unit Award with two oak leaf clusters; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon x2. COL Perata has been awarded the Army Staff Identification Badge and Parachutist Badge. COL Perata is a proud member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.
